How we do what we do

Since our inception in 2015, Northern Health has been focused on being at the forefront of healthcare innovation. We began by collaborating with MidYorkshire Hospitals to provide out-of-hours and acute care through our team of dedicated GPs. This partnership has been crucial in supporting the hospital network by ensuring continuous, comprehensive care in critical settings. Our approach combines: 

Strategic Partnerships: Working alongside established healthcare facilities like Pontefract Urgent Treatment Centre and providing GPs for A&E at Pinderfields and Dewsbury Hospitals. 

Quality and Patient-Centred Care: Ensuring that all interactions and treatments are of the highest quality and tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient. 

Expanding Access: By providing critical staffing in out-of-hours settings, we ensure that patients receive care when they most need it, even outside of typical service hours.

    How do I book an online GP appointment?

    We currently offer both video consultations and telephone appointments. Please click here to book your appointment or call our bookings team on 01924 967 647.

    Please note on some occasions our experienced GPs may feel a video consultation is the most appropriate consultation for your needs. We will of course discuss this with you at the time of booking.

    If it is felt the telephone consult needs to be held as a video consultation, an email will be sent to you prior to your appointment informing you of the change and this will include a link for your video consultation.

    There will be no additional charge where we feel a video consultation is clinically indicated.

    What can an online service treat?

    Online services can be a quick and efficient way of managing your health but might not be right choice for certain health conditions and management.

    Please note that we do not yet offer repeat prescriptions.

    Will you inform my GP?

    To support your overall health journey it is our standard practice to forward your consultation and it’s outcome to your GP.

    We also recommend keeping your own GP informed should you require ongoing management and care.

    More information is available at the time of booking and this will be discussed further in your appointment.

    What are the costs associated with MyDoctor’s services?

    We believe in transparent and honest pricing. Please click here for our fees.

    Prescription Only Service – Variable, depending on item. Each item’s pricing will be clear alongside the option for each treatment prior to making a payment.

    I might not need to see a GP. Can I request a quick prescription?

    If you are looking for a prescription only service please click here.

    You will be required to complete various health questions to ensure that we are able to safely prescribe.

    Our experienced GP’s will review your request and aim to respond within 6 hours.

    In the unlikely event that our GP feels a prescription only service is not appropriate they will contact you to discuss alternative routes and possible re-imbursement.

    How do I cancel or amend an appointment

    Please contact our bookings team on 01924 967 647 to cancel your appointment.

    Our free cancellation policy applies to those bookings cancelled with at least 24 hours notice.

    After this time, we reserve the right to withhold 50% of the original booking fee.
